He Said It Produces Good Sound, and Decent Noise Cancelling
He is an audiophile, and the kind of person who researches products a lot before committing to a purchase. He bought this JVC HANC250 taking into account reviews by others, and given some knowledge about headphones. He also own a pair of G**** S***0 that are non-noise cancelling but have exceptional sound.
Upon opening the product, He was impressed by the packaging and enclosed accessories. It all conveyed a sense of quality and attention to detail. However, this impression soon extended to the product itself, as these headphones have very good sound! Although it is unfair to compare noise-cancelling headphones (his new JVCs) to audiophile-rank, non-noise-cancelling headphones (his old G**** S**0), He has to admit that the quality of the sound the JVCs produce is as good as that of the S**0s! He would attribute this to the noise-cancelling feature that basically isolates other sounds/noise from the environment, thus emphasising on the music itself. He is impressed, as He would expect these closed-can headphones (JVC) to produce more of a tin-like sound. Of course, the S**0 are open-diaphragm (this is why they let sound in and out) which grants their sound an open-stage, hi-fi class effect (you feel the sound more ambient. Thus, He would say that the JVCs have exceptional sound, given their closed-can design (limitation by design) which one would expect to bring a limitation to the sound too. But this is not the case: the JVCs sound very well.
He is very pleased with his purchase. He is yet to try ths JVC HANC250 on an airplane, but at least at home, they work well isolating the humming sound of certain domestic appliances/hot air heating system. They do not eliminate all sounds (He has tried more expensive pairs at shops and ALL noise-cancelling headphones are imperfect, don't be fooled by those percentages that manufacturers advertise!). He would expect only future technologies to totally isolate/cancel external sounds. But they do block out a noticeable amount of ambient noise which, together with music played, brings a very satisfactory noise-cancelling effect.
Overall, for the price and sound quality (as He said, equivalent to G**** S**0!), He highly recommend this HANC250. Given the sound quality and their price, I would have given 5 stars. But because of the yet-to-find out possibility of the battery compartment causing small problems with sound quality, I chose to take out one star. Overall, for the price, 4.5 stars for sure.
